Aftercare Guide
Aftercare Instructions for Your New Tattoo at Bright Side Tattoo
Depending on the size and placement of your tattoo, we have two different methods to ensure proper healing. Please follow the instructions below carefully for the best results.
If your tattoo needs to stay wrapped for 2-3 days:
- Remove the wrap and wash thoroughly:
Use warm water and soap to wash the entire area with your palm or a soft cloth. Make sure to remove all the “slime and gunk” until the area no longer shines. Avoid rough sponges or scrubbing gloves. - Pat dry:
Use a clean towel or paper towel to gently pat the area dry. Let it air dry for 2-3 minutes – do not apply any cream yet. - Re-wrap the tattoo:
Repeat washing and re-wrapping at least 3 times a day (preferably 4 if possible). While the tattoo is wrapped, you don’t need to worry about your clothing.
If your tattoo only needs to stay wrapped overnight:
- Wash thoroughly in the morning:
Remove the wrap and wash as described in step 1. Do not re-wrap the tattoo after this wash. Be sure to change your bedding. - Let the tattoo air dry:
Allow it to dry for at least 1-2 hours until it feels completely dry. - Apply cream:
Use a very thin layer of unscented moisturizer or Panthenol cream 2-3 times daily. Avoid greasy ointments or oils. Always wash your hands before applying.
General Aftercare Tips:
- Do not use harsh antibacterial products:
Avoid cleaning with chlorhexidine or other strong disinfectants. Use only soap and water. - Never pick or scratch:
Picking can cause uneven healing and may require touch-ups later. - Avoid soaking your tattoo:
Do not submerge the tattoo in water (e.g., baths, pools, or the sea) until all scabs are gone. Regular showers are fine. - Pause physical activity:
Avoid workouts for 7-14 days, depending on healing progress. Once scabs have fallen off, you can resume exercise and swimming. - Wear clean and loose clothing:
Wear fresh clothes daily during the healing process. Avoid tight-fitting or coarse fabrics.
If You Suspect Complications:
- Signs of infection:
- Redness that worsens over time.
- Continuous discharge.
- Yellow pus or clear signs of infection under the scabs.
- Swelling that persists after 4-5 days.
Contact us immediately or consult your doctor if these symptoms occur.
